I absolutely could not pass up the adorable illustrations in this book from the used bookshop in Lambertville yesterday!
But Charlie Wasn't Listening
Charlie is a Pekinese puppy who isn't listening to his dad explain about their rich heritage. The origin of their breed comes from a lion falling in love with a marmoset and the fairies helping their union along. They were so revered by royalty, they were kept in the sleeves of their robes, and Charlie learns that the white "Buddha" spot on their heads is a mark of bravery.
