The Courage of Sarah Nobel
I was so happy to introduce this book to Charlotte. Madeleine and I had read it years ago and it somehow always stuck with me- the story of an 18th century girl who must brave the wilderness with her father. It's a rare beautiful blending of history and narrative and is based on the true account of a Massachusetts girl which is absolutely fascinating. (We love the version with Weisgard's illustrations the best.)
