This author/illustrator is a favorite of a friend of mine. I can see why with this amazing book! I haven't always been as enthusiastic about her other work, but this one might be winning me over.

This author/illustrator is a favorite of a friend of mine. I can see why with this amazing book! I haven't always been as enthusiastic about her other work, but this one might be winning me over.
When a genial giant finds himself captured a la Guliver's Travels, he has to use his storytelling skill to convince everyone that he's harmless. It's a fun take on some well known tales and legends with various styled illustrations.
This one is a reprint of a vintage collection of fairy stories. (I love how one was suggested by the poet Jean Ingelow). The writing is dated but that's what makes it so charming and magical! Plus there are some wonderful illustrations.
